melatonin and stress

I have a question: Can I also take melatonin only when I feel restless at night?
I have a lot of stress lately and noticed that I had difficulties to fall asleep.
I don't want that my body loses the ability to produce melatonin itself.
I appreciate the calming effect of M, but can not say with certainty that I lack melatonin .... am still trying.

I have one question regarding when to take melatonin: can I also take it during day-time? I'm suffering from nervousness and stress, but at night I'm quite relaxed.

I am 55 years old and have suffered from insomnia on and off since my teen years. From my observations, my insomnia is worse when I am stressed. I have also been experiencing hot flushes for the last 5 years. These, too, come and go and also effect my sleep. Sometimes I can get to sleep but then wake up in the early hours of the morning and cannot get back to sleep until dawn. Just lately I have been having difficulty falling asleep in the first place, even though I am exhausted. Which product will be best for me to use. I am vegetarian and extremely conscious of what I put into my body. Can you assure me that your products are 100% natural and derived from vegetable products only? Is melatonin something that I will have to take forever or wll my body start to function properly on its own? Is it addictive?

Hello,
I work at an airport and suffer from excessive stress and tiredness because of the shift work. Every day I have another shift on 24 hours basis. I try to sleep at least 6 or 7 hours a day, even if that means sleeping during strange hours of the day or having an interrupted sleep. I also show signs of deseases like prolactin and psoriasis. I would like to try melatonin... do you have any advice for me?
